The Midday Meal Scheme was first implemented in post-independence India in Tamil Nadu by former Chief Minister K. Kamaraj in the early 1960s. Under the direction of the Supreme Court of India, the plan was put into action in all of the states by 2002.

Who Is Eligible for Midday Meal Scheme in India?
